Notable Sites #1

Userscripts.com: From enhancing facebook to google, these Greasemonkey addons make browsing easier.

Pandora.com: The best online radio source. Just Kidding! Use alternatives such as Grooveshark.com and Nutsie.com. Pandora is overrated. These websites offer Pandora and more!

Theoatmeal.com and xkcd.com  are two of the most entertaining sites to read through. Both show comic skits and are a bit nerdy.

http://revision3.com/dan30 if you have not heard is this guy's show where people control his day to day life.

Last but certainly not least:
Threadless.com: The site that I buy most of my shirts from. Each shirt is voted by people on the forums.

How I learned how to fix a computer

Now, my family is tech-tarded. Meaning they barely know how to use facebook. I taught my grandma how to use the mouse at the age of 3.

How I learned? Trial and error.
Best Example I can show you through a computer?

This CPU. I accidentally removed the fan and the CPU came with it. I tried to put it back, roughly, and It ended up costing me.

Another, I found a folder called cookies and thought it was a virus. I deleted all of them. I also ended up deleting sound drivers too after more searching.

Anything is possible. Sometimes, you run into speed bumps, like ruining a CPU, but if you keep trying, keep searching on google, and keep failing, inevitably you will succeed.

While Heathrow is in the news....

I would like to mention this airport, for If you ever go there, it is an experience in itself...
For one, they never finished the ceiling, but the airport itself is obnoxiously huge, equipped with buses, trains, flat escalators and golf carts to move from one terminal to the next -which takes over a half hour.

Original story:

The most amazing lightning strike I have ever seen

Although I have caught lightning in videos, I cannot imagine even seeing a bolt like this, let alone capture it on camera!

Photography, after learning the basic tweaks, is all about luck and this guys got it.

Weekly Rant #2: The Antennagate that no one noticed...

As a proud (Just Kidding) owner of the Samsung Instinct on Sprint, I would like to mention that during every call, the same exact thing happens to the signal when you call someone! And if you hold it the same way Apple "Suggested", the signal restores to the usual terrible signal of Sprint - enough to maintain a call.

iAntivirus 2010 and other fake security

This virus and many others can gain access to your system quite easily.
How? It's name!

Simply put, regardless if the website says it has been rated number one and it's free, don't trust it until you go to a trusted review site such as cnet.com. I have seen this virus attack many computers in my family and they all go to me. We can always use our handy dandy lmgtfy.com and search iAntivirus 2010.

Even easier, just go buy a mac. Sure it will cost you a ton but don't you think it's that cost for a reason. Regardless if hackers "just don't bother with macs" or they really are that secure, you won't ever have to deal with these annoyances.

Beta Testing

Beta testing offers an easy way to try out the newest product - which many computer fanatics are obsessed with. The only complaint I have is the repeated extensive questionnaires. I really enjoyed facebook's though: Ask one question, any question, and answer it. I decided to be the creative person I am and make up my own story involving "Irssers" - who are mini IRS tax collecting monsters :)

Some nice sites to try:
Onlinebeta.com
Hp and Dell's services.

Review #3: Penpals App

When I was younger, I always urged my teacher to do pen pals with another class, even if it was another school in the came county. Today, I have an app cleverly names Penpals that has fulfilled my desire of real penpals. Connecting you with anyone who speaks English around the world, this app becomes increasingly addicting.

How I find the right people? Simple. Create a creative story asking for their help!

My Example:
Hey! I'm ------ from ------- and I'm in big trouble. I bought a banana nut muffin from the local deli and brought it home. Before I could take a bite, it spawned little arms and began to claw at me. I called muffin control and tried everything from a girl-disguise muffin to hiring a ninja to slice it into pieces. Now I'm asking for your help.

The people who reply things such as: "Lay off the weed man" Ignore.
The one's who play along, continue for a while! I picked one person who I really enjoyed talking to and now we talk every few days in page long messages about the strangest but most entertaining things!

Try it yourself!:

Tidbits of Tips #1

If you are like me, you have your printer on the floor (or really anywhere else) and you, because you have a laptop, always have to search for that stupid wire.

After much procrastination and failed attempts to create this simple fix, I found something in the garage that seemed perfect, nailed it into my desk and wallah! Now I can just plug in my cord for my printer and line in dock.

How To #1 Create a Decoy to Hide Valuables

Are you the family and coworker e-waste recycling plant? I know I am. What to do with whatever you can't fix and what you don't want?

Turn them into things like this:

How? Usually, products have a few screws on the bottom. Once you open it, unscrew any and all screws, and you have an empty body.

For example:
This alarm clock was only 3 screws. The buttons make it seem more realistic, to keep them on, use something simple. Don't over think! I used tape

In case you over observe my photo, yes, my iPod has a crack down the middle.

Review #2: Gigaware USB Speaker

This product, given as a gift, has proved to be one of my most used computer addons, mainly because my netbook speakers are absolutely terrible. The carrying case and wrap around cable allow easy transportation. Other then mentioning it's great sound compared to other mini speakers I have owned, there isn't much else to say.

However, I do wish computers had an easier time recognizing it.

Improv Everywhere and the Onion Video Roundup.

In honor of their newest MP3 Experiment, I'd like to rewind the best Improvs while also mentioning my other favorite youtube group, The Onion News.
In case you dont know, the Onion is a fake news company that offers free newspapers and a "Show" online. Improv Everywhere is based in NYC and offers a fun event every so often to play a joke on fellow New Yorkers - such as the Synchronized MP3 experiments.

Oh how I wish this was real... Tourist Lane

Weekly Rant #1: Forums, The Good and the Evil

Although forums allow people to connect, get much needed help, share information or even new products and programs, but sometimes the concept fails.

The best example I can provide would be: http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/general-mac-os-x-discussion/22978-finder-issues-cant-open-any-application.html. Over the course of about 4-5 weeks, I continually updated the post, with any hope of help - getting hundreds of views, no help.

Finally, I ranted.
What happened? I got an instant reply from a mod. My laptop is still unusable, but at least I could release the built up energy.

Review #1 Cowon iAudio D2 MP3

I would like to have this device as my first review because, other then being my first MP3 player, it emerged me in the player's community and got me involved in electronics.

This device, for once, actually held the battery life as advertised. I loved how it had flash capabilities and many of the games I would play on the computer actually worked on this platform. The themes, rockbox capability and music skins also made the device personal. I especially liked how Cowon allowed these modifications unlike Apple's many attempts to halt them in it's products.

Sadly, one of my younger sisters broke the screen. However, I continued to use it, and still do today whenever my iPod craps out.

Main Features:
FM Radio (Including Radio Record)
Video and Picture Viewer
Voice Record
Flash Player
Text Reader
Dictionary
Calculator (Scientific)
Amazing Battery Life
SD card reader
And one of my favorites, Draw

Would I buy from Cowon again?
Based on the D2, I wouldn't second guess.

How to make people feel really dumb

If someone spent the time to make a post on a forum to ask a question you can just google, this site is your best friend: http://lmgtfy.com/

Nutsie, Grooveshark

These two websites are basically Pandora jacked up on Mountain Dew

Both sites feature searching for the song you want, then add it to a playlist
The one Difference is Nutsie remains a "radio" and shuffles songs while Grooveshark allows you to play any song in any order.

Try them out: Nutsie.com , Grooveshark.com

From this point on, this blog is going to transform.
It will feature:

Product Reviews
New Products (often ones that are out of the ordinary)

But it will also offer a few entertaining stories created by myself or another.

Not to mention a few free offers that I have scavenged

Simply put, this blog will be a little bit of everything.
Lets see what happens!
